2002
Shortly after the diagnosis of their son Lesley Hanson and her husband Duane, who lived in Eaglescliffe in Stockton, began the journey faced by so many families to discover what the future offered for their son and what support they could expect to receive.
Thankfully Jacob was diagnosed as having mild autism whoever they were saddened to find little or no support. They quickly realised there were many others like them.
At night Lesley began to dream of a respite care centre for families with children who have autism or other special needs. The dreams were remarkable in their detail.
2003
Lesley began giving public talks to any organisation that would listen. Donations started to roll in.
In April the Goshen Trust, a local trust, provided Lesleys vision with a home; the Trust acquired Calf Fallow Farm in Norton on the outskirts of Stockton on their behalf.
In May DAISY CHAIN was registered with the Charity Commission.
2004
On Monday 12th of January 2004, Lesley went into hospital for a relatively routine surgical procedure. Four days later after major complications she unexpectedly passes away in hospital.
This shock was a massive set back and it took us some time to recover. But recover we did – you can see how well in on the ‘About Us’ page.
But for now we remain focused on Lesley’s dream, her vision, and making it become a reality.
Won’t you help?
