For Siblings

We are proud to host Sibz, a youth group for 5-16 year old siblings of children with an autism spectrum condition.

Sibz

Sibz caters for siblings of children with an ASC and is suitable for young people aged between 5-16.

The group meets fortnightly on a Monday evening during term time and during the school holidays. They enjoy outings, activity evenings and occasional education sessions, which help the young people understand more about Autism Spectrum Conditions.

There is a charge of £4 for the first child and £2 for each additional child.

For more information please contact a member of the Care Team on 01642 531 248.

Why have a group for siblings?

The group aims to enhance the lives of siblings by providing them with information, support and an opportunity to participate in a range of activities outside their normal home and caring environment.

It is important that siblings can share their thoughts and feelings with others who experience some of the same day-to-day challenges as they can often feel very alone. Parents are often very busy looking after the disabled person, which sometimes means that siblings don’t get as much attention.

Siblings can also have a number of mixed feelings, which are perfectly normal. Although siblings enjoy the company of their brother or sister most of the time, there can be occasions when they want time to themselves, feel frustrated and irritated by them.

What does the group offer to siblings?
