Stuart Dexter, Daisy Chains new CEOIt’s been busy here at Daisy Chain and although I’m only 3 months into this job, I feel like I’ve been here forever – in a good way! Our guinea pigs have been having babies like it’s going out of fashion and it’s always a lottery to see if mummy skinny pig has bald or furry babies. As someone who has never let a lack of hair hold me back, I really don’t mind which!

We had our Daisy Chain Boat Race on the Tees this month and as CEO I got to captain my own boat. A brilliant time was had by all but no one told me it was traditional for the boss to get wet! We also had our Come Dine With Us event at Rockliffe hall where 100 guests sampled fine dining all in a good cause.

As the summer holidays rapidly approach, we are preparing for our programme of holiday events. These include short break sessions, our holiday trips and Activity Days. While our Care Team are providing some amazing services during the holidays, we are also busy planning exciting developments for the future. I can’t give too much away at this stage, but don’t be surprised to see Daisy Chain in a position to provide even more education services and develop more employability projects.

Finally, June saw me attend my first Friends of Daisy Chain meeting. Around 35 curious business leaders attended to check out the new boss. At the 11th hour, I decided to ditch my powerpoint presentation and just speak from the heart and I’m glad that I did. The Friends had a chance to learn about my journey from the music industry in London, to a youth worker working with kids excluded from school to my move to the north east 16 years ago and, finally but most importantly, our plans for Daisy Chain.
