It has been another busy month here at Daisy Chain and work is well underway preparing for our Autism Education Trust Conference in April.

We were delighted to be chosen as the early years autism training provider for the whole of the North East. This means that we will be providing Department for Education approved training for people working with young children to understand autism and how best to work with youngsters who are affected.

The conference covers all settings from early years to post 16 provision and is free to attend so please do check our website for details.

One of the highlights of our fundraising calendar is the Great North Run and we are always very proud of our runners who take part and in doing so help us to support local families. We still have some places left so if you missed out on the ballot or fancy a challenge please do get in touch.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of Rockliffe Hall in 2017 and were delighted to pick up a cheque for just over £7000 which they kindly raised throughout the year. Their staff took part in fundraising and guests to the hotel could make a voluntary donation when booking a room.

This year we are enjoying looking back on what has been achieved at Daisy Chain over the last 15 years and the impact the support has had on our families. We have heard amazing stories of achievement such as Tara’s, aged 18, who has benefited from the services at Daisy Chain and is now studying for a psychology degree at York University.

We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our wonderful volunteers so it was lovely to hear how Liz and Keith first became involved with Daisy Chain in the early years and are still making a huge difference and want to continue volunteering for as long as possible!
