What’s new News Coronavirus (COVID-19) - latest update Thursday 26th March - resources for families We've put together some useful resources for families to access during these uncertain times, including social stories, support with mental health and useful information - you can access these resources here. Don't forget, you can also access our telephone support service, allowing you to speak to a member of our care team to discuss your own needs and be signposted towards helpful resources and strategies. The team are supporting families with the following: responding to enquiries from parents, young people and adults and carrying out telephone appointments sourcing, sharing and sending resource packs to support parents with loneliness and isolation creating and sending bespoke resources and visuals The service is open to young people, adults and families of those affected by neurodevelopmental disorders. Our aim is to provide support and services for those who display traits associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing differences, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). World Autism Awareness Week You can help to raise awareness of autism and raise much needed funds for Daisy Chain by getting involved in our World Autism Awareness Week Campaign. As such, we are introducing a telephone support service, allowing people to discuss their own needs and be signposted towards helpful resources and strategies to support them during these uncertain times. The service will be open to parents/carers of children as well as young people and adults affected by autism living in the local area. Monday 23rd March - Superstore update In light of current events and to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers,staff and volunteers, we have made the difficult decision to close our Superstore and coffee shop to the public from 5pm today (Monday 23rd March). Any confirmed deliveries of purchased items are still scheduled - if the situation changes, our dedicated team will be in touch to advise you. We are busy developing an online service to allow our customers to continue to support us by purchase items online - stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks. The impact this will have on us as a charity will be huge; the situation we find ourselves in will have a detrimental effect on our finances, with the charity set to lose a substantial amount of income in the long term. Daisy Chain is committed to following Government advice and these measures have been taken to protect everyone involved with the charity. Wednesday 18th March 2020 - Daisy Chain Charity Superstore update We have made the difficult decision that as from Saturday 21st March, we will not be accepting any donations at our Superstore until further notice. We have taken this decision to safeguard our customers, staff and volunteers against the spread of COVID-19. As it stands, the Superstore remains open for our dedicated customers to continue to shop with us and visit our coffee shop, all whilst raising increasingly vital funds for Daisy Chain and local families affected by autism. Monday 16th March 2020 - Day Centre update We are taking precautions within Daisy Chain to ensure everyone's health is a priority whilst using our facilities during the current situation with coronavirus (COVID-19). From Monday 16th March, we have made the conscious decision to decommission our soft play area until further notice. Whilst our facilities are cleaned thoroughly and regularly on an on-going basis, we have taken this decision to safeguard our service users against the spread of COVID-19. Going forward, during toddler group, creche, activity days and social clubs, the soft play area will be closed. Other activities within these sessions will still be available as we continue to provide support and services to our families. We hope that you understand why this decision has been made, however if you do have any queries or concerns, please contact us on 01642 531248. Friday 13th March 2020 - Statement Daisy Chain is closely monitoring the situation in relation to coronavirus (COVID-19) and regularly reviewing the advice from Public Health England. In the event of any positive testing for coronavirus, we will work closely with Public Health England to ensure that families, staff and young people receive prompt advice and support. There is currently no information to suggest there is any increased health risk to any young person or staff and as such Daisy Chain will continue to operate as normal. Should this change, we will notify you immediately. If you or your child feel unwell, please follow current advice by ringing 111 and follow the procedures. In these circumstances, if you or your child is unwell, do not attend Daisy Chain site but please contact our team to advise them. If you have recently travelled to one of the areas deemed high risk by Her Majesty's Government, please follow the advice and self-isolate. The health and well-being of everyone is our prime concern and Daisy Chain will continue to be diligent and follow appropriate advice to ensure this matter is dealt with appropriately.
