Daisy Chain Ben Houchen visit

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has spoken at Daisy Chain’s quarterly business networking meeting, telling businesses how the area is undergoing a step change and can be a world leader in industry.

The Mayor was speaking to the autism support charity’s corporate supporters group, Friends of Daisy Chain. He outlined the opportunities the Tees Valley has to generate a new hydrogen economy – starting with the first ten hydrogen trains in the UK. He added to this the plans to create the largest hydrogen fuelling station.

Mr Houchen said: ‘Here in the Tees Valley we are becoming a Centre of Excellence for the clean and renewable energy sectors, just off our cost we have what will be the world’s biggest offshore wind farm in the Dogger Bank development. Our region will play a major part in making this hugely significant project a reality with many of the companies involved choosing to come to the Tees Valley, creating good quality well-paid jobs for local people in the process. We are also investing in our transport infrastructure so that local people can quickly, easily and cheaply get to the jobs that are being created.’
