Barn Support Worker JOB SUMMARY The post holder will be based in the barn and will assist in all aspects of the care of the animals. The post holder will also design and deliver barn based activities for children and young people with autism and their families and will assist in the delivery of the animal care qualification. Due to the nature of this role the post holder may be required to work during the evening and/or weekends. Location: Daisy Chain, Norton Salary: £17441.33 (Fixed Term contract 12 months) Hours: 16.5 hrs KEY TASKS Maintain the general cleanliness, security and tidiness of the barn area Ensure Daisy Chain’s daily farm routine is completed to the required standard Ensure the safe and adequate supervision of animals at all times when working in the barn Do last checks and make sure the barn is locked up in the barn managers and deputy barn managers absence Supervise student placements and volunteers Liaise with and provide reports to the Barn Manager Provide 1:1 or small group support to children/young people/adults with autism and support them to develop friendships and participate in barn related activities. Set-up and facilitate a range of social and educational activities in the barn. Assist in the planning and delivery of the animal care qualification Develop and maintain positive and supportive relationships towards children/young people/ adults with autism and their families. Contribute towards the protection of individuals from abuse by adhering to Daisy Chain’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding policies at all times. Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times and that Service Users personal details are not disclosed to any unauthorized third person. Maintain effective and accurate recording and reporting systems in line with Daisy Chain’s procedures and undertake other administrative tasks as required.
