In 2016, after thirteen years of being a trustee, supporter & advocate of Daisy Chain, Joan Douglas made the difficult decision to step down from the Daisy Chain board of trustees.
Joan is a retired social worker and one of the very first trustees here at Daisy Chain. She was instrumental in the setting up of Daisy Chain, and has worked tirelessly raising funds, attending events and regularly volunteering in many areas across the charity.
Last week, our CEO Judith Haysmore presented her with a plaque at our Links parent support group to show our appreciation for all the hard work and dedication she has given to the charity over the years. After receiving her award, Joan said the following:
I’m going to really treasure this. I have loved being involved with Daisy Chain and I will continue to do this at the Superstore. It really lifts me to be among people that are just so wonderful; they are so dedicated to this charity. When Lesley [founder of Daisy Chain] asked me to help plan a small group, I would never have imagined what would happen. Just coming and looking around this morning – everything is so different. I’ve made many friends here along the way and I enjoy meeting new faces. There is such a peace about this place. It’s just been a haven for me. Daisy Chain was started with much prayer and hard work by many people and I’m proud to have been a part of it.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Joan for all her wonderful support over the years, and wish her the very best for the future.
