Stephen has been volunteering at the Daisy Chain Superstore for the last four months. He first got involved after taking early retirement and wanting to make himself useful.
Stephen says:
I was in the Castlegate Shopping Centre in Stockton when I saw that Daisy Chain had a stall out. It was then that I picked up a leaflet, filled it in, and well, the rest is history!
Daisy Chain was the first place Stephen came across when looking to volunteer and after finding out more about the services they offered, he wanted to get involved.
It’s like having a job but without the added pressure and I find that on my days off, I’m much more productive than I was before.
Stephen spends his time at the store sorting through the donations in the back of warehouse, checking them for quality and ensuring the items are fit to be sold. He is also involved on the shop floor helping arrange displays, moving the furniture and speaking with customers.
The atmosphere here is everything. We have a great laugh and everyone gets on. There is no divide between teams; everyone helps everyone in anyway that they can. It’s just such a friendly place.
