Superstore

Coronavirus (COVID-19) - latest update

Our charity Superstore on Portrack Lane opened in May 2014 and has gone from strength to strength, giving us the opportunity to increase awareness of Daisy Chain and to provide a sustainable income to help us to support families affected by autism in the Tees Valley. You can sign up for our newsletter at the foot of the page.

Due to the second national lockdown, meaning that non-essential retailers in England have to close, the Superstore is not open for trading and is unable to accept donations at the current time.

A full risk assessment has been undertaken in relation to the opening of the Superstore during the Covid-19 pandemic and is available to see here.

  • 1000 donation bags received each week

  • 60-70 van collections each week

  • >6000 gift aid donors

  • >210,000 donation bags since we opened

If you're a UK tax payer, by registering with the Gift Aid scheme, Daisy Chain can reclaim an extra 25% in tax on your donation.

For example, if you donate an item that sells for £100 and you are registered with Gift Aid, we can claim and additional £25!

What do I have to do?

When you donate to our Superstore, you will be asked to confirm whether or not you are a UK tax payer and eligible to register for Gift Aid. Please note that tax can only be reclaimed on donations made by individuals who pay UK income or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount reclaimed on their donations in the current tax year.

You'll be asked to complete a short form with your details, and then given a Gift Aid card with your own unique number. Each time you donate items, simply hand over your card, or label the bags with your Gift Aid number and our staff will link your items to your Gift Aid pledge.

You can download the Gift Aid form here.

If you'd like to label your bags of donations before bringing them to the store, you can download and print labels here.
