Hours - 37.5 hours per week  

Salary - £23,000-£26,000 per annum depending on experience.

We are looking for an energetic and imaginative communicator who will transform our Daisy Chain output by boldly, memorably, and effectively carrying the case for Children and Adults with Autism. We need someone who can both roll their sleeves up and work strategically. This role is for someone excited to be hands-on, 'leading through doing' with writing, designing, working with media contacts and who can equally plan, coach, ideate, advise and strategize. This vital role will report directly to our CEO and will work across Daisy Chain’s, Care, Fundraising and Social Enterprise Services.

The role spans the entire range of the Daisy Chain’s media, marketing & external communications:

  • Website & social media channels - ensuring compelling, attractive, imaginative content that excites our audiences and pushes them towards deeper engagement; 
  • Third-party media - working to see Daisy Chains work, issues and perspectives covered prominently and widely as possible;
  • Physical & e-publications - helping ensure the Charity presents itself as well as possible, especially to professional audiences, with excellent publications and assets (e.g. annual report, summary documents, programmes reports and newsletters);
  • Digital marketing - driving fundraising and event-recruitment through excellent digital activity;
  • Campaign design - working with fundraising and other senior colleagues to imagine, design and execute brilliant campaigns;
  • Advocacy - to work with our CEO to capture Daisy Chains key messages and perspectives and support their targeted and/or prominent amplification
  • Brand - brand guardian and lead; working to curate the strongest and most effective brand identity for our charity

Main Duties

  • To develop and deliver the charity’s communications strategy to engage with service users, supporters, volunteers, stakeholders and new audiences
  • To develop and execute creative ideas to raise the charity’s profile among its key target audiences across all platforms
  • Responsible to plan, write, edit and proof-read engaging PR and communications materials (including press releases, news stories, case studies and updates)
  • To be responsible for liaising with the local media to ensure we continue to get positive news coverage and maximise our impact
  • To manage, maintain and review the charity’s website, social media accounts, newsletters and online profiles with engaging content 
  • Monitor and self-review our effectiveness of marketing, PR and publicity activities, thereby constantly improving the way in which we connect with our audiences 
  • Undertake the production of the charity’s digital and printed materials, providing in-house design for promotional materials and working with external suppliers where required
  • To develop the charity’s branding guidelines ensuring that style, branding, values and key messages are understood and implemented across the organisation in all materials, both internally and externally
  • Ensure media quota targets are met with regard to funders.
  • To commission and co-ordinate the production of promotional films and the use of video for promotion on all digital platforms
  • To develop and oversee the charity’s internal communications channels and processes, reviewing and revising where necessary
  • To co-ordinate media relations for the charity, liaising with senior managers as required
  • To lead on the management of our external communications calendar and co-ordinate the input of others in the team
  • Work with the CEO and senior leadership team to support pro-active/re-active media relations for the charity
  • To support the charity’s care services, ensuring maximum engagement and understanding of the charity’s work with beneficiaries and stakeholders
  • To develop and implement the marketing and communications strategy for our retail offering, ensuring the retail profile and the support for the charity is made clear whilst promoting the superstore to customers and potential new donors to increase footfall and income
  • Contribute to the charity’s fundraising objectives and strategy, particularly via social media channels, working closely with the CEO and fundraising team
  • Working with Senior Leadership team to develop and manage communication strategies for effective marketing campaigns including social media campaigns, supporter recruitment promotions, newsletter campaigns and event promotion campaigns
  • To lead and deliver engaging and exciting e-newsletters 
  • Promote the charity’s mission, vision and values across all areas of work
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that data processes comply with data protection regulations (GDPR)
  • Produce regular reports on social media and website performance and campaigns for the CEO as required
  • To review the charity’s digital fundraising opportunities and help shape the narrative on increasing income
  • Implement charity policies and procedures, with specific regards to safeguarding and GDPR
