Boro star Marvin Johnson is to kick off the relaunch of the Daisy Chain Superstore and Coffee Shop at Portrack Lane.

Marvin will be in store on Thursday November 16 at 2pm to officially open the Coffee Shop which has been refurbished and is offering an exciting new menu.

Stuart Dexter, Chief Executive of Daisy Chain, said: “It is fantastic that Marvin and Middlesbrough Football Club are supporting us and are taking the time to come and see what we do and how important the Superstore and Coffee Shop is to ensuring the future funding of Daisy Chain.

“We are a local charity supporting families affected by autism and we rely on our community, local businesses and organisations to help us raise the funds to support our families.

Our Superstore with the Coffee Shop is much more than a charity shop; it is an integral part of Daisy Chain which, as well as raising essential funds, also provides vitally important training and work placement opportunities for adults on the autistic spectrum.”

The store also relies heavily on volunteers who keep the store running smoothly with the daily arrival of donations and the collection and delivery of furniture. The whole superstore has also been refurbished and more signage and information added so visitors can see the good work they are contributing to, thanks to support from the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Marvin will be visiting and signing autographs. He said: “We are delighted to be able to support Daisy Chain. The work they do with families and adults affected by autism is inspiring.”
