There is now a smart new addition to the Tees Valley roads which is helping Daisy Chain go green – and it is all thanks to the dedicated support from Mercedes-Benz and SMART of Teesside.
The car dealership at Preston Farm, Stockton-on-Tees, has provided one of its newest and greenest Smart Cars to the charity complete with full Daisy Chain livery.
It will help the charity, which supports families affected by autism across the Tees Valley, get out and about raising its profile across the region while protecting the environment.
The new Smart Electric Drive offers zero driving emissions, no road tax and a driving range of 99 miles. The generous support marks a full year of activities from Mercedes-Benz and SMART of Teesside who have been raising funds for Daisy Chain in a variety of ways.
It started with a volunteering day at the Norton-based farm site then staff took part in Daisy Chain’s annual boat race this year – they have already entered three teams for the event next year on 7th July. Five brave staff members took part in the recent Sky Dive, a technician completed the Great North Run, while collections in the dealership have raised cash and donations have been given to the Superstore on Portrack Lane in Stockton.
Daisy Chain chief executive, Stuart Dexter, said:
We rely on the generosity of the public and local businesses to support us so we can provide a haven and the respite, help, advice and guidance to families affected by autism which is so important for their well-being.
This is a remarkable way of supporting us. We are over the moon Mercedes-Benz Teesside has been able to get involved with us in so many ways. We will be able to use the car to attend community events, when we visit schools and organisations and at fundraising activities. It will be fantastic way of raising the profile of Daisy Chain, we will be very visible.
Jeremy Simpson, head of business at Mercedes-Benz Teesside, said:
It is important to us as a company that we are involved with our communities and Daisy Chain is a stand-out local charity providing incredible support to families in the region affected by autism. We were delighted to see first-hand the work that is undertaken and myself and all the staff were inspired to try and offer as much help and support as possible. We are looking forward to seeing our Daisy Chain Smart Electric Drive everywhere across the region.
