Daisy Chain is delighted that players of People’s Postcode Lottery are once again pledging support to the autism support charity.
An award of £400,000 has been given to Daisy Chain in Norton, Stockton-on-Tees to help fund the support services the charity offers to local families and individuals affected by autism.
As well as the continuation of the core services the charity currently offers, the funding will allow the further development of Daisy Chain’s employability service, which gives young adults affected by autism the opportunity to access a range of different courses and workshops covering a variety of employability areas, including interview skills and CV writing, as well as offering work placements with a number of local businesses.
With the support of Daisy Chain’s specialist employability team, these experiences arm service users with the necessary tools and skills to gain employment, whilst also helping to reduce their feelings of loneliness and isolation.
The funding will also allow us to continue the development of our current outdoor provision, enabling us to diversify our offer and meet the needs of a wide range of beneficiaries. Our outdoor activities include access to gardens, allotments, polytunnels, wetlands, Zen Den, farm and sensory play area, with further activities including horticulture clubs and placements planned for the coming months.
At the end of 2019, the total amount awarded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery to good causes like Daisy Chain has reached over £500 million, with a minimum of 32% of each ticket price going to charities and good causes.
Neeraj Sharma, Daisy Chain’s chief executive, said, “We rely on the generosity of supporters like players of People’s Postcode Lottery and this funding is vital for us to continue to offer our holistic services to families and individuals affected by autism who depend on us for support.
“The demand for our services is unprecedented and having this funding allows us to plan the growth and development of these services to meet this ever increasing need.
“The generosity of players of People’s Postcode Lottery is incredible and we can’t thank them enough for their ongoing support.”
