North East-based charity, Daisy Chain is partnering with a range of regional businesses on 11th October to tackle the issue of textile waste head-on, showcasing an emerging ethical clothing brand Neuthread, following its success at Northern Fashion Week.

Welcoming universities and organisations from across the region, the event will shine a spotlight on how we can think differently when it comes to fashion – buying and dressing sustainably, without compromising on style and design.
Neeraj Sharma, Daisy Chain CEO said: “A staggering number of unwanted textiles end up in landfill here in the UK and across the globe; CO2 Runway is designed to encourage people to think about what part we play to reduce CO2 emissions, not just in the charity retail sector but in our communities and workplaces.

“We’re proud to be launching an initiative that can be replicated time and time again, knowing it was born here in the North East. The climate crisis is real, and we’re optimistic that these kinds of initiatives will influence wider positive change.

“This event wouldn’t be possible without our incredible sponsor, Additional Lengths and we’re also pleased to announce that Victoria will be one of the businesswomen hitting the runway on one of four fashion shows!”

Victoria Lynch, Founder and Managing Director of Additional Lengths, explained why being part of the event is so important to her: “It’s an honour to be sponsoring and participating in Daisy Chain’s CO2 Runway, promoting sustainability in the fashion industry.

“At Additional Lengths, promoting our environmental responsibility, sustainability and awareness around the recycling of human hair extensions is at the heart of what we do with our recycling scheme. We have been at the forefront of this in the hair industry over the last few years working with several charities.

“We are also actively sustainable with our packaging, including this in our recycling scheme and reducing our packaging requirements and replacing it with biodegradable packaging, where possible, to ensure we improve our sustainable approach to unnecessary packaging. It’s amazing to be part of this groundbreaking initiative.”
