We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team at Daisy Chain. The post holder will ensure the smooth running of Daisy Chain’s systems and procedures, and provide support to the Volunteering team within Daisy Chain. This by nature is a very varied role, which requires the post holder to have a high level of versatility and the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.

Daisy Chain is a unique charity that was founded in 2003 to provide a haven for families affected by autism in the Tees Valley. We currently have staff of nearly 90 alongside our team of volunteers across our Day Centre in Norton and Superstore at Portrack Lane.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Charity as we continue to grow and develop the services we offer.

The post is temporary for six months.

Salary is £18,360 per annum (£14,688 for 30 hours pro rata.)

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Manager plan, organise and ensure the efficient movement of stock between the Superstore, Donors and Customers and that this is done is a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure the highest levels of customer service, productivity and efficiency at all stages of collection and delivery of stock.
  • Ensure the Gift Aid procedure is followed at all times and that Gift Aid is actively promoted.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and upkeep of the company vehicle to include a minimum weekly check of oil, water, screen wash, tyre checks and lights as well as interior and exterior cleaning of the vehicle.
  • Actively promote and source stock donations from customers and the local community.
  • Ensure that all items being transported in the van are appropriately secured and protected to prevent damage in transit.
  • Assist Superstore staff and volunteers with arranging deliveries of donations in the warehouse in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Plan routes to ensure they are as cost effective as possible.
  • Ensure the security of donations, work equipment and personal belongings on the van and the personal safety of yourself and any passengers.
  • Act as an ambassador for Daisy Chain when moving about the local community and with customers and volunteers.
  • Comply with Daisy Chain Driving Policy.
  • Comply with Daisy Chain Health and Safety Policies and Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Maintain daily records of mileage and provide all receipts for fuel to the Retail Manager
  • Actively participate in two-way communication sharing and exchanging relevant and appropriate information with all staff and volunteers.
  • From time to time the driver may be required to take discarded items to the tip or other approved outlet.
